Houston Rockets Sign Guard Michael Frazier
EDINBURG, Texas - Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that they have signed guard Michael Frazier from their single-affiliation NBA G League partner, Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Frazier becomes the fifth Gatorade call-up for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers this season, giving them a total of 34 overall.
Frazier (6-4, 200) appeared in 47 games for Rio Grande Valley during the 2018-19 campaign, while averaging 16.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 four assists. The Florida university alumni was able to lock in 17 games with at least 20 points for the Vipers. Frazier achieved a career-high in scoring with 43 points against Sioux Falls on January 28 during his breakout month.
Frazier received the 2019 NBA G League Most Improved Player award to cap off a great season of achievements on the court for the Vipers. He also appeared in two games for Team USA this season during 2019 FIBA Qualifiers.
During the 2019 NBA G League playoffs, Frazier played in both games for the Vipers, scoring a postseason-high 33 points against the Memphis Hustle in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Vipers are currently in the 2019 NBA G League Finals.
