Houston Dynamo FC News Release

HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo midfielder Tomás Martínez was named to the Audi MLS Team of the Week, the league announced earlier today.

Martínez' game-winning goal last Saturday gave Houston its fourth consecutive victory of the season. The Dynamo have earned 13 points through five games, the best start to a season in franchise history.

The Beccar, Argentina native scored his first goal of the season after a San Jose Earthquakes defender blocked forward Mauro Manotas' shot near the penalty spot. Martínez's one-touch shot curled past Daniel Vega at the far post to give the Dynamo their third victory at BBVA Compass Stadium this season. It was the 23-year-old's third career game-winning goal.

Martínez is the fourth Dynamo player to be named to the Team of the Week this season. Forward Alberth Elis was named to the Team of the Week twice this season after a pair of dominant performances in which he scored, created or assisted on seven combined goals in wins over Vancouver (Week 3) and Colorado (Week 5). Forward Memo Rodriguez was named to the Team of the Week bench after his brace against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Week 3. Defender Kiki Struna was named to the Team of the Week after making his MLS debut in a 2-1 victory against the Montreal Impact in Week 2.

Single-game tickets for Houston Dynamo home matches start at $24 and may be purchased online at HoustonDynamo.com, by phone at 713-276-4625 (GOAL) or at the stadium box office.

Houston's next home match will be on Saturday, April 27 when they host Columbus Crew SC. The evening will hold special significance for players and fans alike, as it will be the club's inaugural End Cancer Night presented by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The first 7,500 fans will receive a special co-branded Dynamo and MD Anderson scarf, and giant letters bearing MD Anderson's iconic 'cancer strike-through' logo will be on display for fans to take photos with. For additional details regarding End Cancer Night and the groundbreaking partnership between the Dynamo and MD Anderson, fans may visit HoustonDynamo.com/endcancer.
