Houston Announces Triple-A Players of the Month

ROUND ROCK - The Houston Astros unveiled their organizational Players of the Month on Tuesday, placing Express outfielder Josh Anderson, pitcher Travis Driskill and infielder Cody Ransom at the top of the list.
Driskill, who made his first all-star appearance in Albuquerque last week, posted a 1.23 ERA with 20 strikeouts and three saves in June to earn Round Rock Pitcher of the Month honors. Anderson was named Offensive Player of the Month after hitting .307 with nine RBI, 14 runs scored and seven stolen bases last month. Ransom, Round Rock's Defensive Player of the Month, has 119 putouts and 154 assists while playing four positions this season. Ransom also earned the honor in May.

After successfully converting four saves and posting a 2.70 ERA (3ER/10IP) with nine strikeouts, Double-A Corpus Christi pitcher Kyle Middleton was named Pitcher of the Month for the Hooks. J.R. Towles was named Offensive Player of the Month for hitting .366 with 13 RBI, 17 runs scored, seven doubles, three home runs and two stolen bases during June. Edwin Maysonet's 85 putouts, 155 assists and 30 double plays in 62 games at shortstop this season earned him Defensive Player of the Month honors.
High-A Salem Avalanche Pitcher of the Month Samuel Gervacio owned a 1.64 ERA (2ER/11IP) with 18 strikeouts and three saves in June. Wladimir Sutil hit .328 with 12 RBI, seven runs scored, two doubles and four stolen bases for the Offensive Player of the Month award. Defensive Player of the Month was Eric King, who has 99 putouts, 177 assists and 37 doubles plays at second base this season.
Low-A Lexington Pitcher of the Month Douglas Arguello went 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA (16ER/29.1IP) with 22 strikeouts. Jhon Florentino was named Offensive Player of the Month after hitting .431 with eight runs, 14 RBI, five doubles and three triples. Koby Clemens received Defensive Player of the Month honors with 26 putouts, 119 assists, while turning 17 double plays at third base this season.
Short-Season Tri-City pitcher Robert Leonhardt was named ValleyCats Pitcher of the Month for posting a 1.50 ERA (1ER/6IP) with one strikeout in June. Offensive Player of Month was Russell Dixon, who hit .389 with 12 RBI, two homers and two stolen bases. Matthew Cusick's 26 putouts, 50 assists and eight double plays in 15 games at second base this season earned him Defensive Player of the Month recognition.
Rookie-Level Greeneville Pitcher of the Month Eduin Ciriaco pitched seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts in June. Andrew Launier took home double honors as he was named both the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Month for Greeneville. He hit .353 with five RBI and five doubles while defensively recording 146 putouts and 16 double plays in 18 games at first base this season.
