Hounds Defeat Lansing Ignite, 2-0
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC defeated Lansing Ignite FC, 2-0, on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
Striker Steevan Dos Santos put the Hounds up 1-0 in the 22nd minute, and trialist Nazeem Bartman tacked on another in the 66th minute. Goalkeeper Kyle Morton recorded the shutout for the squad.
"We're getting fitter, but we still have a long ways to go in these last two weeks," head coach Bob Lilley said. "It's nice to get a second goal today, but it's all about creating chances consistently and I don't think we're doing that."
The Hounds broke the 0-0 score during the 22nd minute. Gathering a rebound off the crossbar from the edge of the six-yard box, Dos Santos placed the ball into the back of the net by the Lansing goalkeeper. This tally marks the forward's third goal of the preseason.
In the second half, Bartman was on the receiving end of a pass from Anthony Velarde. Bartman struck the ball home for his second goal in two games.
Riverhounds SC has one last preseason game remaining and will battle Toronto FC II at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Highmark Stadium. This match will be free to attend for the public.
