Hitmen Own Two of the Top 13 Picks in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft

April 29, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - For the first time in franchise history, the Calgary Hitmen hold a pair of first-round picks heading into the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

The draft will be held on Thursday, May 2 in Red Deer, AB with the Hitmen owning both the 11th and 13th overall selections.

Last month, the WHL held its draft lottery for the six non-playoff teams with the remaining draft spots based on the inverse order of the final 2018-19 WHL Regular Season standings

"Having two of the top 13 picks and five selections through the first four rounds sets us up really well in this draft," said Hitmen Director of Player Personnel Dallas Thompson. "We are trying to build more depth on our 50 player protected list and feel the upside of the 2019 draft combined with our 2018 picks has the potential to accomplish this."
