Hitmen advance to Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen downed the Red Deer Rebels 5-1 Thursday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome, winning the Eastern Conference Semi-Final series four games to one. The Hitmen now advance to the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship against the defending WHL champion Edmonton Oil Kings.
Greg Chase (1g, 1a), Zane Jones (1g, 1a), Chase Clayton (2a) and Victor Rask (2a) each recorded two-point efforts for Calgary, while Calder Brooks, Spencer Humphries and Elliott Peterson also scored in the win.
Calgary Flames' prospect Turner Elson scored the lone goal for the visitors as Hitmen netminder Chris Driedger stopped 16 of 17 shots he faced.
The Hitmen will begin the third round of the 2013 WHL playoffs with Games 1 and 2 on Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19. Both games are 7:00 p.m. starts at Rexall Place in Edmonton. Calgary returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome for Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24.
