Herd's Free-Throw Shooting Impedes Knicks Effort
WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, showed hints of a comeback but conversely, could not contain the Wisconsin Herd and fell, 112-106, Friday evening at the Westchester County Center.
In the opening stanza, Westchester (1-5) failed to get much going shooting 35-percent from the floor, 16.7-percent from the perimeter and getting to the line just three times, converting two. The Knicks would reach the charity stripe only one more time through three more quarters.
In the second segment, the Knicks established some rhythm draining 50-percent of their looks from the field and downtown and saw themselves down just three, 53-50, at the break. The three ball was the biggest variant as Westchester drained five to the Herd's one.
The Knicks continued clawing in the third quarter benefitting eight points from Wisconsin's (6-1) four miscues without committing one of their own. They also stopped four Herd shots while the visitors failed to raise for a block. Such effort saw the Knicks down three again, heading into the fourth though the Herd generated seven points from the free-throw line to Westchester's nil. In the final stanza, the Knicks clicked on every cylinder but were upended at the stripe-one free-throw to the Herd's nine which ultimately told the tale.
Two-Way player Kadeem Allen scored 22 points which included four treys. Affiliate player Lamar Peters added 19 points and a game-high six dimes. JJ Moore contributed 16 points off the bench. Two-Way player Ivan Rabb logged 13 points and 10 boards after being sidelined the last four contests.
For the Herd, Rayjon Tucker led with 28 points and four assists. Jaylen Adams registered 26 points, 11 rebounds and a team-high five assists.
The Knicks travel to Maine on the backend of a back-to-back, tomorrow, November 23 at 7 PM.
