Herd Triumphs 3-1 over Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Sioux Falls Stampede newcomer Ian Malcolmson provided two assists on critical goals as the team defeated the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 3-1 at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena Friday night. Three different players scored in the contest and Jaxson Stauber made the start in net, stopping 27 of 28 shots. The Herd improves to 21-17-6 on the season.

The Herd began a six-game road swing off on the right foot with a goal by defenseman Evan Nause at the 4:11 mark of the first period. Ian Malcolmson provided the assist on the play on the give-and-go goal in front of the net for the goal. Sioux Falls finished the period outshooting Cedar Rapids 12 to five.

The RoughRiders secured a game-tying goal on a redirect off the shin pad off Grant Silianoff in front of goaltender Jaxson Stauber.

Brenden Olson gave the Herd a 2-1 advantage unassisted 2:02 into the third period, sniping the puck over the glove-side of goaltender Andrew Pichora. Garrett Pinoniemi scored his seventh of the season after putting a rebound off a shot from Malcolmson into the back of the net. The Stampede outshot the RoughRiders 39 to 28 and finished zero for one on the power play.

The Herd is now five points ahead of the Des Moines Buccaneers in sixth place in the Western Conference standings with a game in hand and four points out of third place and three out of fourth.
