Fresno Grizzlies News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - The Pacific Coast League has announced that right-handed pitcher Heath Hembree and catcher Andrew Susac have been selected to represent the Fresno Grizzlies in the 2014 Cree Triple-A All-Star Game on July 16th in Durham, North Carolina.
Hembree, 25, earns his second selection at the Triple-A level (other, 2012) and third overall in his career (California League All-Star in 2011). Through July 2nd, he is 1-2 with a 4.05 ERA (15 ER/33.1 IP) with 15 saves and 38 strikeouts for the Grizzlies. He leads the Pacific Coast League in games finished (29) and ranks second in saves. Currently, he is the active saves leader (61) in the PCL. Drafted by the Giants out of College of Charleston in the fifth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, the Giants' No. 7 Prospect made his Major League debut on September 3, 2013 at San Diego.
Susac, 24, earns the selection in his first season at the Triple-A level. Through July 2nd, he is batting .261 (43-165) with eight doubles, seven home runs and 25 RBI. He began the season on a five-game hitting streak where he batted .476 (10-21) with a homer and five RBI. The Grizzlies' primary catcher entered the season rated by Baseball America as the Giants' No. 11 Prospect in the organization. For his two-and-a-half years in the minor leagues, Susac is batting .251 (198-788) with 28 homers and 123 RBI. A graduate of Jesuit (Sacramento, Calif.) High School, he was drafted by the Giants out of Oregon State in the second round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.
Earlier this month, manager Bob Mariano was named skipper of the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team. The three Grizzlies' representatives, along with Parker T. Bear, will travel to Durham, North Carolina on Sunday, July 13th to participate in all of the All-Star festivities.
