Heath, Horan, Long Named to U.S. Women's National Team

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC midfielders Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan and Allie Long have been selected as part of the 22-player U.S. Women's National Team roster for a pair of friendlies against the Korea Republic on Oct. 19 and Oct. 22, it was announced today.

Heath, Horan and Long will join the U.S. Women's National Team following the NWSL Championship against the North Carolina Courage, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Orlando City Stadium, at 1:30 p.m. (Pacific) on Lifetime.

The USWNT will play host to Korea Republic in the first of two matches on Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La.; kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (Pacific) with a national broadcast on FS1. The two teams will face off for a second time in Cary, N.C. on Sunday, Oct. 22; kickoff is set for 12 noon (Pacific) with a national television broadcast on ESPN. Head coach Jill Ellis will name 18 players to suit up for each of the two matches.

Heath (132 caps), Horan (39 caps) and Long (31 caps) were all included on the U.S. Women's National Team roster that defeated New Zealand in back-to-back matches in a 3-1 win on Sept. 15 and a 5-0 win on Sept. 19. Horan recorded an assist in the Sept. 15 match and tallied a goal and an assist in the Sept. 19 contest.

In her second season with Thorns FC, Horan was named to the 2017 NWSL Second XI. The Golden, Colo., native tallied four goals, including a pair of game-winners, and two assists, while also registering her first career NWSL playoff assist in Thorns FC's 4-1 semifinal win over the Orlando Pride on Oct. 7. Long appeared in 22 matches (17 starts) for Portland in 2017, registering two goals and an assist, while Heath started and recorded an assist in the win over Orlando.
