Hat Tricks Edge Past Nords

November 1, 2022 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Maine Nordiques News Release

The Maine Nordiques fresh off a weekend off from games returned home to take on the Danbury Hat Tricks who were in a slump and in the mixed of a twelve game slide.

The first period was a fast paced one which saw a Nordiques penalty kill be successful, 4 on 4, an unsuccessful Nordiques power play and fight between Blake Rothstein and the Hat Tricks, Seth Rakosky. Another Nordiques penalty kill, but this time it would lead to a Hat Tricks goal which made it 1-0. The Hat Tricks would hang on to their lead after the opening twenty minutes.

In the second period, the Nordiques got started with a bang; as Tony Achille was able to find the back of the net in a great team effort that lead to the goal - as Oliver Genest poked it ahead for the newest Lindenwood commit, Patrick Schmiedlin, who found Genest on a 2 on 3. Genest was looking for Schmiedlin, but found Achille back door instead, he put it home to tie it at 1, just 38 seconds into the second. The only other major stoppage was a high stick assessed to the Nords which they were able to kill off 1-1 after two.

The third period started with an unsuccessful Nordiques power play. After some back and forth, a turnover would lead to a Hat Tricks goal to make it 2-1 halfway through the frame. The Nordiques fought to battle back, but saw their shots kept getting blocked away. The Hat Tricks held on for the victory.

Game two is tomorrow night- 10/22 at 7pm at the Colisèe! It is also Halloween Hockey Night, so wear your costume and skates for the post game skate with the players as well.
