Hardy Has Career Night as Mexico City Sweeps Through Texas

FRISCO, TX - Amauri Hardy had a career-high night for the Texas Legends (4-9) as they came up short against the Mexico City Capitanes (10-5) 110-114.

Texas grabbed the first basket and held a 31-26 lead at the first buzzer. After an 8-0 start to the second, the home team went up by as many as 16 near the midway mark. With 12 seconds left in the half, Hardy made it an 11-point game but Mason Jones responded with a buzzer-beater from outside to send it to the half with Texas up 63-55.

The Legends held the lead through the entire third, fighting back after two tying runs by the Capitanes. The fourth quarter opened with Texas up eight and brought back their largest gap of the night (+16) after an 8-0 run. Mexico City went on a 13-0 run of their own to make it a game and the two stayed close through the final four minutes. Less than a minute remained when Mexico City took their first lead since the first quarter, and Jones once again had the final make of the game to seal the win for the visitors at the line.

Hardy finished with 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists while Tyler Hall added 20 points, 5 assists off the bench. Taze Moore grabbed 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Yudai Baba went 3-of-5 outside to finish with 15 points.

Jones led the Capitanes with 39 points, 6 rebounds and Alfonzo McKinnie came off the bench for 15 points, 13 rebounds. Gary Clark added 20 points, 5 rebounds, and Rigoberto Mendoza rounded out the double-digits for Mexico City with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
