July 7, 2019 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - North Carolina Courage

North Carolina Courage forward Kristen Hamilton tied a National Women's Soccer League record for most goals in a game with four, leading the Courage to a 5-2 victory over the Houston Dash Friday night at WakeMed Soccer Park in front of 5,066 fans. After the game, fans were treated to a fireworks display.

Hamilton scored goals in the 5th, 18th, 54th and 71st minutes. Hamilton said her the first goal was the most important: "It was good to get on the board early. It's something we talked about and haven't done in a while, scoring early and setting the tone for the game."

Hamilton 27, started her NWSL career in 2014.

Lynn Williams added a goal in the 31st minute.

Williams said, "I think we played great. We had two slip ups in the first half. Other than that, I think it was our best performance so far. I think Kristen Hamilton is on fire."

Williams had had an assist on Hamilton's third goal in the 54th minute giving her 23 for her career, the most in NWSL history, "I think it's an amazing achievement. That's not really something I really keep tally of how many goals I get or how many assists I have," Williams added. "I am prouder of this team and what we have accomplished more than my own personal achievements."

Williams 26, started her NWSL career in 2015.

The Dash had two goals in the first half from Kristie Mewis in the 24th minute and Kyah Simon in the 43rd minute to leave the Courage up 3-2 at halftime. North Carolina pulled away in the second half with Kristen Hamilton's third and fourth goals of the game.

"It was a good performance obviously, were still missing seven players that are involved with the Women's World Cup," said Courage coach Paul Riley. "To come out like that: we put the ball in the net and Kristen Hamilton was on fire, we got the much needed three points."

The Courage now have a 2-0-4 record at home. They have yet to lose to the Dash with a 6-0-1 record since 2017.

Up next for the North Carolina Courage is a home game against Reign FC on July 13th.
