
Haldenby's OT Tally Gets Bugs Past Jacks

The Shreveport Mudbugs (12-7-1) came back from a two-goal deficit to upend the Odessa Jackalopes, 5-4 in OT in front of a packed crowd at George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Saturday night.
The Bugs got off to a blazing start in the opening period as Lucas Deeb ripped home his sixth goal of the year from the LW circle to make it a 1-0 contest at 11:49. Hayden Nichol and Logan Heroux earned the helpers on the game's opening tally. SHV would add on w/ a PP tally from Nick Marino as he got denied twice in front of the net, but was able to hammer home his eighth goal of the season on his third chance to increase the Bugs' edge to 2-0 at 15:30. The Bugs led in SOG, 14-6 after one.
Cam Dunn scored a lucky goal which deflected off the back skate of Liam Fleet and into the net to get the Jacks back in the game at 7:02 of the second period to make it 2-1. Odessa would get even as Kowin Belsterling went around the net and wrapped in a tally to tie the game, 2-2 at 10:20 of the second. Odessa would take the lead at 13:34 on an odd-man rush as James Richman rammed in his first goal of the year from the slot to make it a 3-2 contest. The visiting team would net another goal at 17:01 to make it a 4-2 hockey game. SHV finally responded at 19:51 as Hank Reed rattled in his third goal of the year from the near circle to make it a 4-3 contest.
SHV would claw back and find the equalizer at 11:37 of the third as Deeb fired home his second goal along the short side for his second tally of the game evening the score, 4-4. Brent Litchard picked up the only assist on the game-tying tally.
The game stayed tied 4-4 sending the contest into OT as Kyan Haldenby skated in on an odd-man rush and off a perfect feed from Marino and gunned in his fourth goal of the season from the RW circle to send the Bugs to a hard fought 5-4 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes.
Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau earned the win in net making 26 stops on the night.
The Bugs will hit the road for Thanksgiving weekend and take on these very same Odessa Jackalopes at Ector County Coliseum for a two-game series. Game one will be next Friday night at 7:15.
