Bio

Amidou Bamba joins the Nighthawks as the second signing for the 2021 season since the free agency window opened at Noon ET on February 1st. At 6'8 and 240 lbs, his size and strength will be a great asset on both the glass as well as creating big defensive plays.

Prior to his freshman year at Coastal Carolina in 2016, Amidou attended High Point Christian Academy in North Carolina, where he was a 3-star recruit. In his Junior year, Bamba averaged 9.5 points, almost 6 rebounds and over a block per game while shooting 68 percent from the field in his first 31 games. He also excelled in academics by maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. At Coastal Carolina, Bamba saw game time with 101 games as well as 34 starts with averaging 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 66 blocks overall. As a freshman in 2016, he achieved a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

He additionally helped lead the Canadian Under 19 National Team to a World Cup in Cairo Egypt in 2017, and in 2018, he scored a career high 18 points against Arkansas Little Rock. Bamba played with the Charlotte 49ers for one season his senior year, where he started all 29 games. He finished tied for 10th in Conference USA with a team-leading 26 blocked shots.

After collegiate basketball, Bamba began playing professionally in the Spanish Basketball League Spanish LEB Silver, where he played for CB Ciudad de Ponferrada. He set a career high in rebounding numbers, and is a large focal point in both the offense, as well as being a defensive and rebounding anchor for the team.
