(GREENVILLE, S.C.) Former Northern Kentucky University star Jordan Procyshen hit a two-run homer to give Greenville an early lead, and Trey Ball pitched six shutout innings as the Drive went on to a 4-2 win over the Lexington Legends Saturday night.
Procyshen's homer in the fourth inning put the Drive in front 2-0. Greenville added a run in the fifth when Franklin Guzman singled, stole second base, moved to third on an infield out and scored on a ground out by Owensboro native and former University of Louisville star Cole Sturgeon.
The Legends cut the lead to one in the seventh against reliever German Taveras. With one out, Kenny Diekroeger hit a solo home run, his fifth of the year for Lexington. Carlos Garcia then singled, stole second and came home on a double by Alexis Rivera, leaving the score at 3-2.
Greenville's Jimmy Rider closed out the scoring with a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth.
Ball (5-10) got the win. Lexington starter Pedro Fernandez (1-8) was the losing pitcher. Greenville has won the first two games in the four-game series, which continues Sunday. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
