Aaron Stroosma Hits First Career Home Run - A Grand Slam

Everett, WA - The Everett AquaSox (18-16) crushed the Eugene Emeralds (15-19), 10-5 on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Eugene took an early one-run lead in the first inning by the way of three singles, one being an RBI single from Michael Cruz, 1-0. The Frogs started the game slowly as they were set down in order in the bottom half of the first.

The Emeralds started the second inning off with back-to-back line drive singles. Sox starter Brian McAfee would record two outs before allowing a two-RBI single by Zach Davis that went over Eugene Helder's head to extend the Emeralds lead, 3-0.

Eugene added another run in the third inning when McAfee allowed a lead-off single from Austin Filiere and an RBI double by Miguel Amaya, 4-0. Austin Grebeck rallied the bats in the bottom half with a line drive single to center field. Chris Torres would step up to the plate and clobber his fourth home run of the season to left field, 4-2.

Michael Rivera relieved McAfee in the third inning. He kept Eugene scoreless in both the fourth and fifth innings by sitting them down in order.

The Sox loaded the bases in the fifth inning on a Chris Torres double, Manny Pazos single and Helder line drive single. Torres would cross home plate on a wild pitch by Erich Uelmen for the Sox third run of the game, 4-3. Onil Pena would be intentionally walked to load the bases for the second time in the inning before Aaron Stroosma demolished a two-out grand slam for his first home run of the season to the parking lot in right field, 7-4.

Ted Hammond took over in the seventh inning and set the Emeralds aside in order. Five back-to-back hits, including three doubles and two singles, extended the Sox lead, 10-4 in the bottom half of the seventh.

Eugene managed two doubles, a single and one run to score but Hammond prevented the Emeralds from taking over a lead in the ninth inning. The Everett AquaSox won their third straight game against the Eugene Emeralds, 10-5 and look to win their fourth straight game tomorrow night.
