Graham Godfrey Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

West Sacramento, Calif. - Graham Godfrey earned Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance last week, the league announced today.

In two starts-June 5th at Tacoma and June 10th at Colorado Springs-Godfrey tossed a combined 14 innings, allowing just one earned run. In those two starts, Godfrey struck out 11 while walking just three batters. He earned wins in both starts, improving to 5-0 this season and 19-3 in Triple-A since the beginning of the 2011 season.

On the season, Godfrey leads the Pacific Coast League with a 1.05 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP. He has struck out 40 while walking eight, and has surrendered one or zero runs in seven of eight Triple-A starts this season. He is scheduled to pitch again Friday, June 15, against the Tacoma Rainiers at Raley Field. Friday's first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The River Cats return to Raley Field on Thursday, June 14, for a Miller Lite Thirsty Thursday, in addition to a Salute to the Red, White & Blue presented by U.S. Army where the first 2,500 fans will receive an American Flag. Cats RHP A.J. Griffin (1-2, 3.22 ERA) will get the nod, while the Tacoma Rainiers will counter with RHP Andrew Carraway (2-2, 3.41 ERA). The contest is set for 7:05 p.m., and will kick off an eight-game homestand against Tacoma and the Fresno Grizzlies.
