
Gorillas re-sign Socholotuk and Donnette

[Amarillo, TX]- The Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that the club has re-signed defenseman Trevor Socholotuk (suh-kohl-uh-tuck) and forward Dan Donnette. These additions to the Gorillas roster, brings the total number of signed players to eight.
Socholotuk, a 5'11'', 190-pound defenseman out of Kenora, Ontario, will be entering his 2nd season with the Gorillas. Last season he totaled three goals, 10 assists and 107 penalty minutes. In 2003-04 Socholotuk played for the Miami Manatees of the now-defunct WHA2 and the Cape Fear FireAntz of the SEHL (now the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL) and tallied 5 goals and 13 assists in 42 games.
"I'm excited to come back with so many of the guys from last year." Socholotuk said, "With the nucleus of guys that we have, we definitely have a shot at winning a championship."
Head Coach Joe Ferras said of the signing of Socholotuk, "Last season Trevor adjusted to the CHL quickly. He brings great energy and tenacity to the rink every night."
Donnette, a 5'10'', 190-pound forward from Ramsey, Minnesota is also entering his 2nd year in Amarillo. Last season, in 60 games, Donnette tallied 12 goals, 13 assists and 12 penalty minutes. In 2003-04, he played with the Fort Wayne Komets of the UHL and with Socholotuk in Miami. Between the two clubs, he totaled 14 goals, 22 assists and 26 penalty minutes in 49 games played.
"We have a great group of guys returning from last season." Donnette added, "With our solid core of guys, we should be even better this year."
"Last year Dan came in and turned out to be a great player for us." Ferras noted, "His intensity and focus while matching up against the other teams' top line was vital to our success."
"It's great to get both Trevor and Dan back." Ferras added, "They are both character guys that compete every night and help make my job a lot easier."
