Glockner Acclaimed for Save Success

Waterloo, Iowa - Waterloo Black Hawks goaltender Charlie Glockner made three appearances in the final days of 2020 that contributed to the United States Hockey League naming him Goaltender of the Week on Thursday.

In those games, the native of Minnetonka, Minnesota, went 2-1-0, sporting a 2.01 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. This is the second time since Christmas a Black Hawk has won a USHL Weekly Award. On December 30th, Max Sasson was named the league's Forward of the Week.

Glockner's sequence of solid performances a December 28th contest against the Lincoln Stars. At Young Arena that night, he stopped 24 of 26 Lincoln Stars shots during a 5-2 win. It was the Hawks' first home ice victory during the 2020/21 schedule.

In Des Moines two nights later, the Buccaneers edged Waterloo 3-2. Regardless, Glockner turned aside 24 of 27 opposing chances. It was a close game where the teams were separated by one goal or tied for all but 32 seconds.

Playing for the third time in four days, Glockner helped the Hawks recover for a 3-1 win against the Bucs on New Year's Eve. That effort required 24 saves.

The 20-year-old is now 4-4-0 this season. His 2.44 goals-against average (fifth) and .919 save percentage (fourth) each rank among the top five for the league's goaltenders so far during this campaign.

The Hawks return to action to open a stretch of three games in three days on Thursday evening versus the Fargo Force in North Dakota.
