Generals Host Hockey Fan Nickolas and Family in Partnership with Make-A-Wish

February 25, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Oshawa Generals News Release

Sunday night the Generals had a very special guest in attendance as we took on the Saginaw Spirit- meet Nickolas. Nickolas was brought to our team as a request from Make-A-Wish Foundation. Part of Nick's wish, as a huge hockey fan, was to come to the Generals game.

Diagnosed with Spina Bifida, Nick doesn't let it hold him back as it showed as he made his way around the arena on his crutches. He spends time outside of school playing sledge hockey, something his sister has also taken up, just like her brother.

Prior to the game the Nick and his parents, Amanda and Kyle, and sister Kathryn were treated to a dressing room tour and the ever exciting fist bump of the player's before they headed out for warm up. Upon completion of the dressing room tour, the Generals had a team signed jersey and a dressing room stall set up for Nickolas. Lleyton Moore presented him with the jersey and our trainer's made sure he could take his stall nameplate home with him.

What turned into an exciting game, Nick and his family were treated to a late Generals comeback and overtime hockey. He even saw himself on the video board that was a highlight for him.

After the game, Nick was invited back to the dressing room for his biggest surprise of the night. The whole team and coaches were waiting for a special presentation where the game's first star, Allan McShane, gave Nick his first star stick and captain Kyle MacLean told the family they would also be getting a Disney Marvel Cruise for the family to enjoy.

Although the Gens didn't get the win, Nickolas had a great time at the game seeing some of his favourite players.
