Generals Acquire Oskar Olausson from Barrie Colts

Oshawa, Ont. - On Thursday afternoon, the Oshawa Generals announce they have acquired forward Oskar Olausson from the Barrie Colts in exchange for Kevin Niedenz and a package of draft picks. The picks include a 2nd in 2022, a 3rd in 2022, a 3rd in 2024, and a 6th in 2024.

Olausson has been Barrie's most dynamic forward this season, registering 12 goals and 13 assists in 22 games. He is a first-round draft pick, 28th overall, of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2021 NHL draft.

In addition to his time with the Colts this season, Olausson represented Sweden at the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton, recording one goal and one assist in two games before the tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Olausson joins Cameron Butler as major additions the Oshawa Generals have made in the past few days.

Niedenz leaves the Generals with one goal and six assists for seven points in 20 games. The hard-working forward is also in his first season in the OHL after being selected in the 2021 OHL import draft.
