Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
FARGO, N.D. â The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and Winnipeg Goldeyes had their season opening game suspended by heavy rains at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo on Friday night. The game was tied 4-4 in the middle of the fifth inning. Tonight's game will be completed Saturday night, beginning at 6:05 p.m. Saturday's regularly scheduled game will be played following the completion of the suspended game and will be seven innings.
After rain delayed the start of the game by 32 minutes, the Goldeyes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning behind a two-run single by Odannis Ayala and an RBI ground out by Jorge Moreno. The RedHawks answered back in their half of the inning. After Eric Kofler doubled to lead off the inning, Kelley Gulledge crushed a Roger Luque offering over the left field fence to cut the Winnipeg lead to 3-2. The RedHawks took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brian Ward singled home Gulledge, and Clyde Williams came home on the back end of a double play.
The lead for Fargo-Moorhead was short-lived, as a two-out fielding error by Williams at first base allowed Russ Jacobson to score from second and tie the game at four. The game was delayed in the middle of the fifth inning and suspended 43 minutes later.
