GAME RECAP: IceDogs Send the Troops Packing with 6-1 Win

November 18, 2017 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Niagara IceDogs News Release

Your Niagara IceDogs were back in action tonight as the North Bay Battalion came to town as we hosted our annual Military Appreciation Night. Tonight marked the first game newly acquired overage forward, Adrian Carbonara, played in his new colours and the 'Dogs were hoping his presence would be felt in the lineup.

The 'Dogs got off to a hot start tonight, against the Battalion, being boosted with the return of Elijah Roberts! Kyle Langdon opened the scoring 6 minutes into the game after tipping in a shot from Josh Dame from the blueline! Langer's third of the season was assisted by Dame and Roberts! With less than a minute remaining in the first period, the Battalion scored the equalizer on a powerplay. We headed into the first intermission tied at 1. Midway through the 2nd period, Phil Tomaino missed an open net opportunity, but seconds later, he redirected a Philip shot from the point to retake the lead! Minutes later, Kirill Maksimov extended our lead to two! Maksimov's 3rd goal in 24 hours gave us a 3-1 lead with just over 5 minutes to go in the 2nd period. Zach Shankar and Will Lochead picked up the assists. In the final minute of the period, Oliver Castleman pounced on a juicy rebound in front of North Bay's goalie to extend our lead to 3! Philip Tomasino and Johnny Corneil picked up the assists on Castleman's goal! The captain got in on the fun nearly the mid-way post

Early to start the third period, Ben Jones scored his 11th of the season to extend our lead to four! Jonesy's goal was assisted by Danial Singer and Johnny Corneil, and gave us a 5-1 lead early. Johnny Corneil got in on the fun, picking up a goal nearing the mid-way point of the third period! Oliver Castleman and Justin MacPherson assisted on the 'Dogs' 6th goal of the game. The 'Dogs held on for a 6-1 win against the Battalion!

The 'Dogs are back in action Sunday afternoon in Mississauga to take on the Steelheads.
