Game Preview: Fever and League-Leading Storm Face off for First Time this Season
August 19, 2020 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Indiana Fever News Release
Thursday will be the first of two meetings in six days between the Indiana Fever and Seattle Storm, who are currently on a nine-game winning streak.
Seattle is coming off a 105-64 win against the New York Liberty. The Storm scored the game's first 10 points, and held the Liberty without a made field goal for the game's first four minutes.
The 11-1 record is the best start in franchise history for the Storm.
Epiphanny Prince returned to the Seattle lineup Tuesday night and led the way with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting with two steals. Seattle's 61 first-half points tied a franchise record, while the 41-point margin of victory ties the second-largest in team history.
The Fever will be looking to erase Tuesday night's 84-62 loss to the Connecticut Sun. Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Tiffany Mitchell added 13 points and five assists, but left the game in the fourth quarter after sustaining a right wrist injury. She is out for Thursday's game.
Two of the most prolific players in collegiate history will share the court on Thursday night. Fever forward Lauren Cox and Storm forward Breanna Stewart are the only two players in NCAA women's basketball history since 1999 to compile at least 1,500 points, 975 rebounds, 300 blocks and 300 assists.
