From the Notes

ROAD TRIP WRAP: A weather-shortened road trip didn't end well for the Tribe on Wednesday in Syracuse, as the Chiefs blanked the Indians in a twin bill to take the series, 5-0 and 7-0. In Game 1, the Chiefs used four pitchers -- Austin Voth, David Goforth, Tim Collins and Austin L. Adams -- to toss the 17th no-hitter in franchise history. Syracuse's last no-no before Wednesday was on June 17, 2000, a perfect game thrown by Leo Estrella against...Indianapolis. The Chiefs scored four runs over the first three frames in Game 1 and used a five-run first in Game 2 to run away with the victories. In Game 2, Christopher Bostick (2-for-3, 2 doubles) and Jose Osuna (2-for-3, 1 double) continued their strong individual starts to the year.

LIKE FINE NINE: Tribe 3B/OF Jose Osuna is riding a nine-game hitting streak to start the season, batting .367 (11-for-30) with five doubles, one home run and five RBI during the stretch. He has also walked five times against just five strikeouts. He is one of three players in the International League with a hitting streak of at least nine games this season (SYR Alejandro De Aza, TOL Dawel Lugo), and he is tied for eighth in the league in batting average.

HOLMES TRYING TO GET COMFORTABLE: Tonight's Tribe starter, Clay Holmes, had only pitched in live game action twice since the end of spring training. He made his MLB debut on April 6 with Pittsburgh vs. Cincinnati and then pitched two innings in relief on April 13 at Buffalo with Indy. He's easing back to a starter's workload, having thrown just 82 total pitches in a game since the spring slate concluded.

HOLMES AT HOME: Clay Holmes was dominant at Victory Field last season, going 7-3 with a 2.79 ERA (22 ER/71.0 IP) in 15 games (14 starts). He shut down the Knights on May 9 last year at The Vic, collecting season highs in innings pitched (7.0) and strikeouts (8) in a 3-2 win over Tyler Danish.

POWER DROUGHT: Indianapolis has totaled just one home run this season, a home run off the bat of Jose Osuna on April 12 at Buffalo. Durham and Rochester have the next fewest in the International League with four home runs apiece. While Indy hasn't hit the long ball much yet, they do lead the league in doubles (30) and triples (6).

BOSTICK CLICKING: Christopher Bostick batted .294 (143-for-486) in 2017, the fourth-highest average among IL qualifiers. This year the 25-year-old has picked up where he left off, owning a .379 average (11-for-29) through nine games played. He currently ranks sixth in batting among IL qualifiers.

GET THROUGH THE FIRST: The Indians have managed to win five of their 11 games this season, de-spite a minus-24 run differential with their opponents. The first inning has been especially troubling for the Tribe, as opponents own a 19-2 advantage after one inning of play.
