
Gallo Named Player of the Week

HICKORY, NC - Hickory Crawdads 3B Joey Gallo has been named the South Atlantic League's Player of the Week for August 26 - September 2nd, his second such award this season. Gallo also took home the designation for the week of June 10 - 16th.
Gallo, 19, slugged 7 home runs during the six-game span, while also batting .409 with 11 RBI, seven runs, three walks and two stolen bases. Gallo's week was highlighted by his 3-home run, 4-RBI game against Delmarva on August 30th, where his final homer was also the record-breaking 174th of the year for the 'Dads.
The 39th overall pick by the Rangers out of Bishop Gorman HS (NV) in 2012, Gallo ended the year with a Crawdads record 38 home runs, while also leading all of Minor League Baseball with his 40 total homers. Gallo led the South Atlantic League this season in extra-base hits (62) and slugging percentage (.610), while ranking among the league-leaders in RBI (5th, 78) as well.
Gallo's award is the 7th time this season a Crawdads player has won a SAL weekly honor, joining teammates Tyler Smith (4/4 - 4/14), Alexander Claudio (4/15 - 4/21), and Ryan Rua (7/8 - 7/14) and Nick Williams (4/15 - 4/21, 8/12 - 8/18).
