Fronts Still Trying to Figure out 67's After 7-2 Loss

December 28, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kingston Frontenacs News Release

The opening period went as well as the Frontenacs could have hoped against a powerhouse team like the 67's. The game had a slower pace and neither team had many high-quality scoring chances.

The best scoring chance was in favor of Kingston and they capitalized. Jordan Frasca and Francesco Arcuri had an odd man rush from their own blue line. Frasca kept the puck the entire way and beat Cedrick Andree to put Kingston ahead 1-0.

Kingston allowed just 7 shots on net and had earned the 1-0 lead heading into intermission.

The middle period was a different story. The Ottawa 67's took some time to get going, but when they did, they looked like a team that had won 11 straight games.

Adam Varga tied the game for Ottawa when he got just enough of a rebound shot to knock the puck over a sprawling Christian Propp.

Kingston took the lead back just a few minutes later. Zayde Wisdom hit the post on the initial attempt but as the puck floated in the air Shane Wright bunted it in for his 17th goal of the season.

From that point on it was all Ottawa 67's.

Marco Rossi tied the game and then put his team ahead just two minutes apart. His second goal of the game was a beautiful shot over the shoulder of Propp and his 20th of the season.

Adam Varga followed that up with his second goal of the game, doubling the Ottawa lead to 4-2.

Jack Beck also score in the middle period giving the 67's five goals in the period and a 5-2 lead heading to intermission.

Not much changed in the third period. Ottawa scored two more goals that came from Jack Quinn and Joseph Garreffa.

The Frontenacs struggled to create any scoring chances and only had 4 shots on net in the period. The game ended in a different way than it started with the 67's owning the final 30 minutes.

Kingston will now hit the road for their next two games. They play in Mississauga tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM. That is followed by a visit to Ottawa for a rematch with the 67's on Jan 2nd at 2 PM. They return home to face the Erie Otters next Friday at 7 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Leon's Centre box office or online at ticketmaster.ca.
