Frogs Fan 16 Times in 3-2 loss

Indians one win from playoffs

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane right-hander Tyler Phillips (4-2) struck out a season high 12 batters in seven innings, and walked none, as the Indians earned a much needed win to keep their playoff hopes alive with a 3-2 win over the AquaSox on Saturday night.

Matt Whatley batted 2-for-4 with two doubles and hit a run-scoring double in the third inning to give Spokane the lead for good. The double by Whatley capped a two-run inning, which was preceded by a Miguel Aparicio RBI single earlier in the inning.

After Spokane added a run in the fourth when Curtis Terry scored on a wild pitch, the AquaSox cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when David Banuelos hit a solo home run.

AquaSox starter Jose Santiago (3-6) took the loss. He allowed three runs and five hits over six innings, walked none and fanned six.

Alex Speas pitched two scoreless innings for his first save of the season.

Chris Torres led off the game for the AquaSox with his fifth home run.
