Frogs Bite the Dust, 4-0
Everett, WA - Michael Suarez pitched five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in relief for the Everett AquaSox (12-11) in the 4-0 loss against the Tri-City Dust Devils (13-10) on August 18, 2017 at Everett Memorial Stadium.
The Dust Devils scored two runs early off Frogs starting pitcher Randy Bell. Kelvin Melean tripled on a ball to left center and scored on a field error by Ronald Rosario resulting in a Little League Home Run. Chris Mattison followed up Melean's extra base hit with a double in the next at bat. He would score the second run for the Dust Devils on a single by Tre Carter, 2-0.
Tri-City scored a third run in the second inning on another Frog error.
Aaron Stroosma doubled on a deep line drive to right field but was left stranded in the third inning, 3-0.
Michael Suarez struck out the first two batters faced when he relieved Bell in the third inning. Suarez allowed one run in the fourth but collected his third strikeout to end the fourth inning, 4-0.
The Frogs set aside the Dust Devils in order in the fifth inning by the way of Eugene Helder fielding a flyout at the left field fence in foul territory, a Suarez strikeout and Chris Torres' diving play for a groundout.
Stroosma was left stranded for the second time as the Sox went scoreless in the fifth inning, 4-0.
Both teams put zeros on the board in the fifth, sixth and seventh inning as Tri-Cities held their lead 4-0.
Suarez collected his seventh strikeout in six innings of work in the eighth inning.
Fabian Roman relived Suarez in the ninth, allowing no runs to score and struck out the third batter he faced.
The Everett AquaSox went down in order in the ninth giving the Dust Devils their first win in the four-game series, 4-0.
The Sox will return to Everett Memorial Stadium tomorrow, Saturday August 19, 2017 at 7:05 PM to take on the Tri-City Dust Devils.
