Frisco Fighters Help Fight Hunger

March 27, 2020 - Indoor Football League (IFL) - Frisco Fighters News Release

FRISCO, TX: While the kickoff of their inaugural IFL season has been indefinitely postponed, the Frisco Fighters have been actively volunteering in the community during this unprecedented time of need in our region. Over the past two weeks, more than 20 different players and staff members have helped package and deliver thousands of meals throughout Dallas, Frisco, and other parts of Collin County by partnering with various organizations such as Grace Bridge Food Bank, Meals on Wheels of Collin County, and Blue Mesa Grill.

Grace Bridge Food Bank distributes meals to hundreds of North Texas families per week. Grace Bridge relies heavily on volunteers, especially during hard times like these. Grace Bridge and the Frisco Fighters packaged and distributed fresh produce, dry goods, and various other essential items to families located throughout Frisco and Collin County.

"We are thankful to be able to partner with local organizations like Grace Bridge that do so much to directly impact so many people in Frisco and the surrounding area," Frisco Fighters Head Coach Clint Dolezel said. "I am beyond proud of my team for stepping up and being leaders on and off the field by serving our community."

Meals on Wheels of Collin County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering meals to individuals and families who are unable to purchase or prepare meals of their own. The Fighters teamed up with the hard-working staff at Meals on Wheels in McKinney to package and personally deliver food and other essential items to the elderly and disabled around the community, especially those most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic

"I appreciate what Meals on Wheels does for the residents of Collin County," Frisco Fighters offensive lineman Damian Love said. "This opportunity helped me serve my purpose in life by helping those who cannot do it themselves. I want to give a big Frisco Fighters thank you to Raven and everyone at Meals on Wheels for all that they do and for allowing us to serve beside them."

The Fighters have also partnered with Blue Mesa Grill in Frisco and Addison to help their staff deliver call-in orders, as most restaurants have been restricted to take-out and delivery only. This is a big adjustment for restaurants such as Blue Mesa Grill whose main business typically comes from dining in, so the need for delivery assistance is in higher demand.

"The Frisco Fighters reached out to help the Collin County seniors during one our most challenging times. We were inspired by this team's commitment, kindness, and willingness to do whatever it took to feed one of our country's most isolated and nutritional at-risk populations...homebound seniors," Marzella Tyson CEO, Meals on Wheels Collin County said. "They are not only fighters on the field but champions who partnered with Meals on Wheels Collin County to make sure no senior was left behind."

The Frisco Fighters remain dedicated to giving back to the Frisco and North Texas community that has welcomed the team with open arms. The Fighters remain eager to assist any North Texas organization with serving the community during this time of need. Frisco Fighters players can be made available to any company or organization planning a community outreach initiative or any other situation where our team can be of assistance.
