The Keys went 2-4 this week, losing the final game of a three-game series at home against the Hillcats, winning two of three at Salem and losing the first two games of a four-game set at Lynchburg.

The Keys are 25-39 in the Second Half (43-90 overall) and in last place in the Northern Division of the Carolina League, 13.0 games behind first place Wilmington.

Hot As Shier

SS Pete Shier is swinging a hot bat for the Keys, going 6-for-6 with 2 RBI, R & 2 BB through the first two games of the Lynchburg series. His 4-for-4 night on Monday, marked the second time this season he has recorded four hits in a single game. Shier had the first four-hit game of his professional career on August 6 against Salem. He has hit safely in six of his last seven games, batting .560 (14-25) with a 2B, 3 RBI, 3 R & 2 BB.

Tucker Among the League Leaders

OF Mamon Tucker is 10th in the CL with a .299 batting average. Over his last 11 games, Tucker is batting .311 (14-45) with a 2B, 3B, 5 RBI & 6 R. He has hit safely in 18 of 24 August games, 13 of which were multi-hit games.

Mackin' The Runs Home

OF Tony Mack drove in the 7th and 8th runs in the 9th inning of the Keys' 8-7 victory at Salem on August 24. Over his last nine games, Mack is batting .346 (13-34) with 2 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R & 2 SB.

Keylor Leads Team In Several Offensive Categories

OF Cory Keylor leads the Keys with 66 R, 24 2B, 53 BB, 14 SB & 128 G. Keylor has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, batting .302 (16-53) with a HR, 5 RBI, 5 2B & 8 R.

Fontenot Has Big Night At The Plate

2B Mike Fontenot went 2-for-6 with a HR, 3 RBI, 2B & R in Friday's 11 inning win at Salem. Fontenot had the game-winning double in the 11th inning to give the Keys a 5-4 lead. He hit his team-leading 8th HR of the year in the Keys' four-run 3rd inning.

Andrade Still Throwing Fire

RHP Jancy Andrade is second in the CL with 146 strikeouts, and leads all Keys' starters with a 3.81 ERA and is second on the staff with 139.1 IP.

Ramirez Throwing Well out of the 'Pen

RHP Enrique Ramirez pitched 3.2 scoreless innings of relief on Tuesday at Lynchburg, striking out three and retiring the final eight Hillcats of the game. Ramirez has not allowed a run in his last five outings (12.0IP). He earned the victory on August 23 by throwing 3.0 shutout innings.

Cierlik Settles In

LHP Jason Cierlik has thrown 4.0 scoreless innings of relief over his last two appearances, after giving up 2 ER in his first appearance with the Keys on August 15.

Roque In Relief

RHP Darryll Roque pitched 4.1 shutout innings in Saturday's 8-7 win at Salem. In 19 relief appearances this year, Roque is 0-1 with a 3.92 ERA (43.2IP/19ER) and a save.

Keys vs. Winston-Salem Warthogs (8/30-9/2)

The Keys finish the 2002 season with four games against the Winston-Salem Warthogs at Harry Grove Stadium. The Warthogs hold an 11-5 lead in the season series against the Keys, and are 4-2 at Harry Grove Stadium.

RHP Frank Francisco starts for the 'Hogs in the series opener on Friday. Francisco has yet to record a "Quality Start" (6.0IP/3ER) in any of his five starts with Winston-Salem this season.

RHP Enemencio Pacheco takes the mound on Saturday. Pacheco is 1-0 with a 3.32 ERA (190IP/7ER) in six August games.

LHP Heath Phillips goes for Winston-Salem in the third game of the series. Phillips leads the league with five complete games and three shutouts. He also leads the CL with 15 losses and is 3rd in the league with 15 HR allowed.

RHP Wyatt Allen closes out the 2002 season for the Warthogs on Monday. Allen leads the league with 78 BB. He is 1-2 with a 3.97 ERA (22.2IP/10ER) in four starts against the Keys this year.
