Forward Madison FC Hire Assistant Coach

January 8, 2019 - United Soccer League One (USL1) - Forward Madison FC News Release

MADISON, WI - Forward Madison FC has added 32-year-old Neil Hlavaty as an assistant coach to Daryl Shore's technical staff. Hlavaty has just finished a playing career which saw him playing for a number of clubs both domestically and abroad, most recently with the Richmond Kickers.

Head coach Daryl Shore believes that Neil's experience with lower division soccer gives him a unique perspective with Forward Madison FC's players. "Neil has an understanding of our landscape and will be a huge asset in identifying players," Shore said. "Since he has only retired last year to transition to coaching, he will be able to identify closely with our players and be a source of guidance for them."

"It's great to be back in the Midwest!" Hlavaty said. "It's unlike anywhere else in the States. It means a great deal to be able to coach for a club so close to where I grew up."

Neil grew up in Lombard, Illinois where he excelled in soccer. He first went abroad at the age of 17 to the Czech Republic to play in the Sparta Prague U19 team. Hlavaty excelled during his time at Boston University and was named America East Midfielder of the Year as a junior. His career saw him go abroad to Sweden and Poland before returning to the United States in 2010.

"I'd like to make Forward Madison FC a household name in the community, and throughout the region," Hlavaty said. "Madison is a passionate sports town, and I hope to see that kind of support in the stands every game."
