Forward Madison FC Drop Points against Top Ranked North Texas SC

May 22, 2019 - United Soccer League One (USL1) - Forward Madison FC News Release

Madison's difficult stretch of games seems to be taking a toll on the team. The Flamingos dropped points once again on their trip to Frisco, Texas, as they lost 3-1 to hosts North Texas SC.

North Texas started the game strongly, seizing on a miskick from FMFC captain Connor Tobin, to go ahead in the third minute. Before Forward could even react, things went from bad to worse as they gave up another goal to David Rodriguez just four minutes later. Don Smart managed to pull a goal back for Madison after he got on the end of a Jiro Barriga Toyama cross. Forward could have had a couple more goals as they picked up momentum through the end of the first half, with nothing ending up in the back of the next.

A sluggish second half saw North Texas SC get a third, and it was a lead that proved to be insurmountable for FMFC. The 'Gos have a quick turnaround now as the team returns to Madison on Thursday before facing German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in an international exhibition of Friday night at Breese Stevens Field.

SCORING SUMMARY:

3' - Ronaldo Damus (North Texas SC)

7' - David Rodriguez (North Texas SC)

15' - Don Smart (Forward Madison FC)

70' - Jorge Almaguer (North Texas SC)
