Fort Lauderdale CF News Release

Fort Lauderdale CF will wrap up its two-game road trip as the squad heads to Nebraska to face Union Omaha on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET. The match will air on ESPN+.

"In the previous match, I felt we played quite well in terms of building play and our identity with the ball, and defended well for spells and just unfortunate to concede such a late goal, but you can't fault the players, you can't fault the effort from anybody. I think we'll do much of the same going into Omaha," said head coach Darren Powell. "Omaha is obviously the top-place team in the league. It's a very difficult task but one we're super excited about, we like that challenge. I think our players continue to rise to the challenge in terms of performances and now hopefully those performances turn into very positive results as we go into the last phase of the season still hunting the playoff spot."

Fort Lauderdale CF is coming off of a defensive battle that resulted in a 1-0 loss on the road against the Greenville Triumph. The squad is looking to regroup against the Union Omaha, who is coming off a 0-4 win over South Georgia Tormenta FC. Union Omaha forward Evan Conway was named USL League One Player of the Week and to the Cleer Audio Team of the Week after scoring three goals against South Georgia. Midfielders Devin Boyce and Tobias Otieno were also named to the USL League One Cleer Audio Team of the Week for Week 26 following their strong performances that put Omaha in a position to come away with the victory.

This will be the second and final time that Fort Lauderdale CF and Union Omaha will meet in the 2021 regular season. In the early May matchup, Union Omaha came away with the 0-2 win at DRV PNK Stadium against Fort Lauderdale. Nicolas Firmino scored a goal in the first half while Damia Viader assisted the goal. Viader followed up his assist with a goal in the second half.

As the end of the regular season approaches, Omaha sits in first place in the USL League One standings, recording 11 wins, three losses and eight draws for a total of 41 points.

Fort Lauderdale remains the second-highest scoring side in the league with 33 thus far. Omaha goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu, meanwhile, is ranked second in clean sheets recorded with eight.
