Former MLS Player Signs with Utica City

August 6, 2020 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) - Utica City FC News Release

Utica, N.Y. - Utica City General Manager Tommy Tanner announced today that the club has signed midfielder Tyler Turner. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Most recently, the Milford, Connecticut was a member of the Birmingham Legion (USL), where he earned 12 appearances during the 2019 campaign. His indoor resume includes four games and one goal with the Orlando SeaWolves during the 2018 season.

"Tyler has tons of speed and technical ability," Tanner said. "We think his combination of the two are perfectly suited for the indoor game. We look forward to having him on Utica City."

Turner, 24, has extensive international experience at the U-23, U-20, U-18, and U-17 levels. He has accumulated 30 appearances while representing the United States, and wore the captain's armband for the U-17 team.

Turner signed an MLS contract with Orlando City SC in 2014 and, at the time, became the youngest-ever signing in franchise history. He made seven total MLS appearances with Orlando.

"Playing for Utica is like all the cards falling into place for my career. I would have been crazy to not jump on the opportunity," said Turner. "I'm excited to play on that famous blue turf, alongside (current UCFC player Onua) Obasi again and try to win a championship."
