Forge FC to Wear Black & Gold Macron Kit June 15 to Celebrate Hamilton's Proud Sporting History
May 30, 2019 - Canadian Premier League (CPL)
Forge FC News Release
In honour of Hamilton's great sporting culture and coinciding with the city's birthday (June 9, 1846), Forge FC will pay tribute by donning black and gold Macron kits for the club's Canadian Premier League match Saturday, June 15 at Tim Hortons Field against Valour FC at 5 p.m., presented by FirstOntario Credit Union.
The Forge FC black and gold kit will be modelled at True Hamiltonian's 2019 Spring Fashion Show - From Hamilton With Love - tonight at Theatre Aquarius at 7 p.m.
"We are excited to wear the black and gold kits to honour the rich sporting history in Hamilton," said Forge FC Captain, Kyle Bekker. "Everyone associates those colours with the city and we're certainly aware of the great teams here that have worn them. We look forward to carrying on that tradition on June 15."
The Forge FC Black and Gold Match on June 15, presented by FirstOntario Credit Union, will include:
- Special appearances by players from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Hamilton Bulldogs and Hamilton Honey Badgers
- A Tiger-Cat player will swing the Forge FC hammer to kick off the match
- A commemorative video at halftime will be shown to celebrate Black and Gold in the City of Hamilton
Forge FC Kit Design Inspiration
BLACK & GOLD
The Forge FC black and gold kit was formed to pay homage to the illustrious history of Hamilton sports and the great teams that have paved the way for Hamilton's newest professional soccer club. Hamilton teams that have proudly worn black and gold include the 15-time Grey Cup Champion Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the 2018 Ontario Hockey League Champion Hamilton Bulldogs, the Hamilton Steelers of the Canadian Soccer League, the National Hockey League's Hamilton Tigers of the 1920s, and Hamilton's new pro basketball team, the Hamilton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
The kit, designed in conjunction with Forge FC's 2019 home and away jerseys, includes Tim Hortons as the title kit partner, the Forge FC sparks in gold, and the club's secondary mark - a forge hammer that's handle bares six strips of tape representing the six communities of Hamilton - embossed on the front of the jersey over the heart/left centre chest. The hammer is symbolic to the Hamilton story; the tool used to shape the city's original industries, and also represents the ongoing shaping of new industries.
Authentic Forge FC jerseys (home, away and black & gold), as well as official Forge FC Macron sideline gear, are available online at shop.forgefootball.club. Team-authentic jerseys (home and away) for every CPL club are available online at shop.canpl.ca.
