Force Edge Lancers 6-5 in Game 3

Fargo, ND - Omaha, and Fargo faced off for game 3 of the second round of the Clark Cup Playoffs on Tuesday evening at Scheels Arena. The Lancers and Force were tied 1-1 heading into Game 3. Vinnie Purpura was called to play between the pipe after his excellent performance on Sunday night.

Fargo came out in full force in the first period scoring 3 goals. Vinnie Purpura was then pulled after he stopped 14 of 17 and was replaced by Zach Driscoll. Driscoll finished the period stopping the 3 shots he faced. Fargo held the 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, the Lancers went to work scoring 4 goals in the period. Jesper Peltonen opened up the scoring with a slap shot from the left point. Mathieu De St Phalle got Omaha within one goal of tying the game with a pass that was off of the stick of Ty Farmer. Cole Gallant tied up the game tipping in a slap shot from Michael Mannara. The Lancers then took the lead when Ethan Price found the backdoor on Mann. Omaha held the 4-3 lead heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, Fargo came out the gates quick with two goals to take a 5-4 lead. Cole Gallant answered back to tie the game with a goal on the powerplay. The Force scored again in the third period. Omaha pulled Driscoll late in the period, but could not get the puck in the net. Fargo edged Omaha 6-5 and now holds the series lead 2-1.

Purpura stopped 14 of 17 and Driscoll stopped 20 of 23.

Tomorrow nights game is win or go home for the Lancers. If Omaha loses, the season ends and Fargo will move on to the Western Conference Championship. If Omaha wins, it will force a Game 5 to be played at Ralston Arena on Friday, April 27th at 7:05 PM.
