FRISCO, Texas - Team captain Matt Hedges was named FC Dallas' Defensive MVP while Fabian Castillo earned Team MVP for the 2015 season, FC Dallas announced today.
Both players were also named to MLS's Best XI.
Hedges, 25, scored one goal and had one assist in 2,675 minutes of play during the regular season. He also played every minute for FC Dallas in four MLS Cup playoff matches. Hedges anchored a back line that tied for the league-lead with 13 shutouts.
He placed third in voting for the MLS Defender of the Year honor.
On the offensive side of the ball, Castillo, 23, contributed his best offensive season, having a hand in 18 goals by scoring nine and adding nine assists. Voted No. 1 in MLSsoccer.com's "24Under24" ranking in 2015, Castillo's season caught the eye of Colombia's national team as the 23-year-old made his international debut in August, and appeared in two 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in October.
