Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, N.J. - During the final four games of the 2005 season, BlueClaws fans helped raise over $22,000 to help support relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The altruistic fans that helped raise this inspiring donation are being rewarded by the BlueClaws with free tickets to a game during the Opening Weekend Series at FirstEnergy Park.
BlueClaws patrons who made donations of $20 or more received a voucher for a set of four free tickets to a game against the Delmarva Shorebirds on Thursday April 13 through Saturday, April 15.
"I'm not at all surprised by the incredible response our fans made to this effort and we are extremely grateful," said Geoff Brown, Lakewood BlueClaws General Manager. Brown added, "We are more than happy to reward the kind actions of our fans that came to the aid of others in a time of need."
Fans in possession of a voucher are encouraged to come to the ticket office at FirstEnergy Park during regular business hours to redeem their free tickets. Fans that wish to use their vouchers for tickets to Opening Day on April 13 should not delay. One of the most popular dates on the BlueClaws schedule has become even more admired with the addition of the "Rainout Payout" promotion.
Fans will be watching rain gauges monitored by News12 Traffic and Weather to see if one inch of precipitation falls from the time the game is scheduled to begin at 6:35 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. If the desired amount is reached, all fans in attendance will split $100,000 in cash. One fan will be randomly selected to receive a brand new Chevy Equinox, courtesy of Pine Belt Chevrolet valued at $25,000.
Full season and partial plan tickets for the 2006 BlueClaws season are on sale including the BlueClaws May 15 game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The BlueClaws drew 444,607 fans during their Fifth Anniversary season and welcomed the team's 2-millionth fan, doing so faster than any other South Atlantic League and New Jersey professional baseball team. Lakewood will open the home 2006 season April 13 against Delmarva at 6:35 p.m. For tickets or more information call 732-901-7000 or visit the BlueClaws' website at www.blueclaws.com.
