Eshelman Goes for Sixth Win of Season

The IronPigs (49-29) and Pawtucket Red Sox (37-38) continue their four-game series tonight at Coca-Cola Park. 1,500 fans 12 and under will receive a Youth Fleece Blanket presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network's Birth and Newborn Center at LHV-Muhlenberg, with first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The Pigs have now lost a season-high four games in a row, the previous season-high for consecutive losses was three.

The Pigs will send RHP Tom Eshelman (5-2, 2.08) against Red Sox RHP Kyle Kendrick (2-4, 6.94).Today's starting pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle. Learn more at affc.com.

RHP Tom Eshelman will make his 10th start of the season for the Pigs. The reigning International League Player of the Month for May last pitched on June 22 against the Rochester Red Wings. The Carlsbad, Calif., native took just his second loss of the season as he tossed six innings, surrendering four runs on nine hits.

RHP Kyle Kendrick who spent the first 12 years of his career in the Phillies organization, makes his 11th start of the season for the Paw Sox. In his last outing on June 22 against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Houston native tossed five innings, surrendering 10 runs on 11 hits while giving up four home runs in the Paw Sox 11-1 loss.

The IronPigs surrendered 20 hits, tying a franchise record, and fell 14-5 to the Pawtucket Red Sox Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Park before 7,822 fans.

Pawtucket had four multi-run innings, scoring a pair in the second, a five-run fifth, three-run sixth and a four-run eighth inning.

Bryce Brentz hit two home runs, his first a two-run home run in the fifth inning, giving the Paw Sox a 4-1 lead at the time. Heiker Meneses then followed later in the inning with a three-run home run to cap of the five-run frame.

Brentz added his second home run in the top of the eighth inning, a two-run shot to give the Paw Sox 12-4 lead. The Paw Sox then capped off their scoring with a two-run double by Dan Butler, plating Allen Craig and Matt Dominguez to give the Paw Sox a 12-4 lead.

The Pigs then plated a run in the bottom half of the ninth as Pedro Florimon sent a RBI double to right-center field, scoring Andrew Pullin to make the final score 12-5.

Four of the Pigs five runs came by the long ball, as Scott Kingery hit two home runs in just his second career Triple-A game, and Dylan Cozens launched his league-leading 18th homer of the season.

Kingery led off the Pigs bottom half of the first and provided instant offense, as the second baseman launched a 361 foot home run to put the Pigs on the board first.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, he struck again, this time with Pullin on base, he sent a two-run shot again to left field to narrow the deficit at the time to 7-3.
