Erin McGill Named Peterborough Petes Local Minor Hockey Volunteer of the Week

December 16, 2020 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON) - Manager of the U-11 Ice Kats with the Peterborough Girls Hockey Association (PGHA) Erin McGill is recognized as this week's exceptional minor hockey volunteer. The Petes want to celebrate local minor hockey volunteers for their contribution to the planning, organizing and execution of local minor hockey's return to the play this season.

McGill is described as a manager who goes above and beyond for her players in and outside the arena. Her countless hours behind screens to make sure everything runs smoothly for players and parents has been one of her many notable efforts. The players on the team love the energy she brings and they have developed a strong bond with her. McGill, who has previously played hockey brings a competitive edge to the team and always includes fun, positive activities for the group.

"Erin wears her heart on her sleeve," says Sarah Wade, nominee for McGill. "She is an all around manager by helping the girls get dressed and she makes sure the process for every parent is easy. She includes team building activities for the team so they can stay focused on being a good teammate, eating healthy and working hard on and off the ice. The hockey parents appreciate everything she does."

Each week the Petes will recognize and celebrate one volunteer from the PMHC, PHA, PGHA, and local adaptive hockey organizations for their additional time and effort to ensure a safe return to hockey this season.

The Petes welcome players, parents and other members of the minor hockey community to nominate deserving local volunteers by filling out this form .

Every Thursday Petes fans are encouraged to tune in to the Peterborough Petes Facebook page for TNL. Each episode of TNL features an exclusive Q&A with special celebrity guests, a musical performance, cooking segments, and merchandise offers.
