Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas - The 2005 Southern Conference Champion Laredo Bucks and the Central Hockey League announced today the schedule for the 64 game 2005-06 CHL regular season. The Bucks will begin the season on the road on October 21st at Colorado in a rematch of the President's Cup Finals. Laredo will start the season with three straight road games. The Bucks are in Colorado on October 21st, at Amarillo in a rematch of the last two Southern Conference Finals on October 22nd, and in Fort Worth on October 28th.
Laredo comes home to the Laredo Entertainment Center on October 29th against Corpus Christi. The Bucks will raise their 2005 Southern Conference Championship banner that night.
The schedule is loaded with division foes. In total Laredo will play 35 divisional games inside the physical Southeast.
The Bucks will play Corpus Christi 13 times, seven at home and six on the road. The Bucks do not play a game in Corpus Christi until January 8th. The Bucks will play three of their last four games against the Rayz, including the regular season finale on March 26th in a game that could have division title and playoffs implications.
Laredo and Rio Grande Valley will match up 14 times, the most of any opponent the Bucks will play this season, with seven coming at the LEC and seven at the Dodge Arena. The Bucks travel to the Killer Bees for the first time on October 30th. The Valley's first visit to the LEC comes on November 20th. The teams will play three straight games in Laredo on February 3rd, 4th, and 8th.
The Bucks and Austin will meet eight times, four home and four road. Laredo travels to Austin for the first time on November 10th. The Ice Bats come to the border on December 16th.
Laredo's longest road trip of the season will be three games, done three times. The Bucks will play a stretch of five of six on the road February 10-19.
The Bucks longest home stand will be four games from January 29th-February 8th. This comes during a stretch of seven of eight games played at the LEC.
Laredo and Colorado will meet three times in the 2005-06 season. The Bucks will open the season in Colorado and the Eagles will come to Laredo on November 12th and January 20th in the match up between the last two CHL President's Cup Champions.
The Oklahoma City Blazers will make their first ever trip to Laredo on January 29th. The Blazers and Bucks have finished first and second respectively in CHL attendance each of the last three seasons.
Amarillo and Laredo will match up three times this season. The Gorillas only trip to the Gateway City comes on November 11th. The Bucks travel to the panhandle on October 22nd and February 18th.
The Bucks and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will meet three times. The Mudbugs make their only visit to Laredo on December 3rd. Laredo travels to Bossier City on January 13th and February 11th.
The Bucks will visit the newest team in the CHL, the Youngstown SteelHounds on November 15th and 16th for back-to-back games. The trip to Youngstown represents the longest mileage trip of the season for the Bucks, totaling more than 3,300 miles round trip. The SteelHounds will play in Laredo on January 6th.
Laredo will not play Tulsa in the regular season, the only team in the CHL not on the Bucks schedule. The Bucks will play 32 home games and 32 road games during the 2005-06 CHL regular season.
Nine times Laredo will play three games in three nights.
Bucks home games on Friday and Saturday will remain at 7:30 p.m. The Bucks will play 7 p.m. games Monday-Thursday. Sunday games will have a new start time of 4 p.m. Laredo will play an 11 a.m. matinee game on March 1st against Rio Grande Valley.
Training camp for the Bucks will open the second week of October. The regular season is set to start on October 21st. The entire schedule is listed below.
BUCKS OPEN HOUSE
- The Laredo Bucks will host an open house this Saturday at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Fans will have the chance to tour the building, including a peek behind the scenes into the Bucks locker room. Bucks players will be present at the event. The open house will be highlighted by the annual Bucks summer merchandise sale and Bucks gear will be available at slashed prices. The event is open to all Bucks fans. Fans can look at open seat locations in the LEC and purchase Bucks season tickets by taking advantage of the newly offered payment plans. A Bucks jersey auction will take place and there will be a special unveiling. In addition fans can enter to win door prizes. The Bucks open house runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.
LAREDO ANIMAL PROTECTIVE ANIMAL SHELTER
- The Laredo Animal Protective Society Animal Shelter will also be present at the open house and they will have animals available for adoption. Adoption fees run $50 for dogs and $30 for cats. The fee includes rabies shots, distemper shots, spay or neuter, plus a bath and dip.
