Charlotte Eagles News Release

A group of fifteen people comprised of Charlotte Eagles USL Division 2 Pro Soccer team players, staff and guest players departed yesterday for their return trip to Gulu, Uganda. Members of the team were deeply affected by their trip to the refugee camps of northern Uganda during their 2005 tour and they promised to return to help the people there.

Members of the team launched an awareness and fundraising campaign called "Gifts for Gulu." That campaign raised over $200,000 in financial support to build a community shelter for the children who were victims of the civil war in northern Uganda. The team is returning to Gulu for a ground breaking ceremony to dedicate the land for the center and to minister to the children in that community.

You can stay informed about the tour by connecting to the trip's blog site using the following link: http://www.sportsoutreachinst.org/news_africa.asp.

Eagles team member Sam Casey has requested that people support the team in prayer at 9 PM each night. The group will be in Africa for approximately 10 days and will return February 3rd.

The Charlotte Eagles open their anniversary season at home on April 20th against Crystal Palace Baltimore at Waddell Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now at www.CharlotteEagles.com.
