Duluth Huskies Welcome Back a Familiar Right-Hander for 2020
Duluth, Minn. - It's a great feeling being able to bring back returning players. These are the guys that know the system well and have the ability to teach the young players a thing or two about what it takes to train and win games; which ultimately leads to championships. The latest Huskies signing is a Junior from Web City, Missouri. He played the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Huskies and the team is excited to have him aboard for a playoff run next season. Join us in welcoming right-handed pitcher Logan VanWey to the 2020 roster!
VanWey currently attends Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. During his freshman season with the MSSU Lions, VanWey proved to be one of the bullpen leaders; finishing with an ERA of 2.05 in 22 innings and holding opposing batters to a .238 batting percentage! He was also named to the All-MIAA (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) team in that same 2018 season. Huskies fans may recognize Vanwey's name from past rosters, where he was a crucial piece to the Huskies pitching staff.
On June 8th, 2018 at home against the visiting Willmar Stingers, VanWey drove the Huskies past the Stingers in what ended up being a thrilling 11-8 finish at the Wade. The hits were not coming easy for the away team this day and VanWey came in late to finish them off and give the Huskies a victory in a close hard-fought game. The team is looking forward to having him back for more when the Huskies take the field for their home opener on June 1st!
