Duluth Huskies Make Two More Acquisitions
Duluth Minn. - The Duluth Huskies Baseball Club has announced the addition of two more players for their 2018 season. The new Huskies are Hayden Shenefield (RHP) from Woodland Hills, California, and Julian Escobedo (LHP, 1B, OF) from San Diego, California.
Hayden Shenefield is in his senior year at Cal State Northridge (Northridge, CA) after transferring from Grossmont College. Last season he tossed in 24 appearances, while maintaining only a 1.56 ERA. In those appearances he posted an 8-0 record on the bump, sending 76 batters down on strikes. To top it off, he earned MVP during the California Community College State Championship. In his current season with the Matadors, he has thrown 19.1 innings in 17 appearances. He holds a 1-2 record, with an ERA of 5.59 and 20 strikeouts so far.
Julian Escobedo is a sophomore at San Diego State (San Diego, CA). As a freshman in 2017, he hit .226 with six RBIs in 43 games. He started in 25 games, and was perfect on stolen base attempts, going nine for nine. In his sophomore season, he is hitting .336 in 36 starts. He has scored 32 times and driven in 18 RBIs. He has also shown patience at the plate, walking 25 times. His defense is also something to mention, as he has a 1.000 fielding percentage from the outfield.
These players show to be talented additions to the Huskie roster. Shenefield looks to have plenty of experience in the bullpen, and Escobedo's defense and stature at the plate look to give the Huskie fans something to look forward to in this 2018 summer season.
