Dubuque Downs Fargo 3-1 in Game Three of 2024 Clark Cup Final

May 17, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release

Dubuque, Iowa --- The Dubuque Fighting Saints claimed a 3-1 win over the Fargo Force Friday in game three of the best-of-five Clark Cup Final.

The win by Dubuque cuts into Fargo's lead in the series, with the Force owning a 2-1 advantage.

Winger Gavin Cornforth gave the Fighting Saints a 1-0 lead near the end of the first period after he grabbed a rebound off Noah Powell's shot and beat Fargo netminder Hampton Slukynsky on the stickside for a power play goal.

The host Fighting Saints went up by two goals midway through the second period after an aggressive forecheck forced a turnover and defenseman Seamus Powell wired a shot from between the dots to beat Slukynsky high on the gloveside. The Force responded on the power play with less than five minutes left in the period to pull within one when Reid Daavetilla beat Kevin Reidler with a shot off the rush.

Jake Sondreal, Dubuque's captain, chipped the puck over Slukynsky at 10:04 of the third for an insurance tally.

The Fighting Saints, who have not lost more than two games in a row the entire season, outshot the Force by a 31-24 margin in the contest.

Game Four between the two teams is slated for tomorrow night (Saturday, May 18) with a 7:05 p.m. CST faceoff scheduled for ImOn Arena in Dubuque.
