Doubleheader at PK Park Sunday

January 20, 2018 - Northwest League (NWL) - Eugene Emeralds News Release

EUGENE, OR - With the recent announcement of the Dead & Company concert at Autzen Stadium on Saturday, June 30th, 2018, the Eugene Emeralds will move their originally scheduled game against the Everett Aquasox from June 30th to Sunday, July 1st, as part of a scheduled doubleheader with first pitch at 4:05pm at PK Park.

After discussions between the Emeralds and University of Oregon officials, both parties determined this would be the best course of action. Both games in the scheduled doubleheader will be 7 innings in length instead of the traditional 9 innings, as per Minor League Baseball rules, with a short break between both games.

The Northwest League season kicks off at PK Park on Friday, June 15th, as the Ems will open up with a 5-game homestand against the Vancouver Canadians in a rematch of last year's Northwest League Championship Series. The Ems will attempt to secure a third straight NWL Finals berth in 2018, a feat never before accomplished in franchise history.

The Eugene Emeralds are the short-season Class A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The 2017 Emeralds followed an historic 2016 season with another Northwest League playoff appearance in 2017, defeating the Hillsboro Hops in the Semi-Finals before falling to the Vancouver Canadians in the Championship Series 3 games to 1. This marked the second consecutive season the Ems reached the NWL playoffs, the first time the franchise accomplished that feat since 1985-86. The Eugene Emeralds are dedicated to providing the best in family entertainment, and have been nominated for the Larry MacPhail Award for a seventh consecutive year.
