Trenton Devils News Release

ELMIRA, N.Y. - Facing elimination in Elmira, the Trenton Devils pulled out a character victory in overtime against the Jackals in Game 5 of the North Division Semifinals, 3-2, Saturday night.

Trevor Kell scored the game winner with a blistering shot from the top of the near circle on the power play, his third of the playoffs at 7:56.

The Jackals scored the first goal of the game for the fifth time in a row, as Paul McIlveen finished off a two-on-one with Mike Sgroi for his first of the playoffs at 12:08.

In the second period, the Devils got off to a quick start and were rewarded with a quick goal at 1:56. On delayed penalty call for the Jackals, Jeff Prough took a pass from Tony Zancanaro and fired it home from a sharp angle for his first career playoff goal.

Elmira re-gained the lead in the third period with a Chaz Johnson goal, though the Devils answered back 1:07 later as Dan Eves scored his third of the playoffs after banking in a pass from Jim Henkel at the top of the crease.

The Devils faced adversity in overtime when Nathan Perkovich took a double-minor penalty for high-sticking. The Devils effortlessly killed off the four-minute penalty, with Jeff Frazee making several stops to keep the game tied.

The Jackals then took a too many men on the ice penalty of their own, and the Devils quickly went to work on the man advantage with Kell putting in the game-winner.

Frazee earned his first career playoff victory with 20 saves, while Henkel tallied two assists.

The Devils return home for Game 6 of the North Division Semifinals against the Jackals Sunday night, with the puck drop scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available by logging onto www.trentondevils.com.
