February 24, 2011 - Pacific Coast League (PCL) - Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - Up and coming Cardinals prospect Daniel Descalso has started a blog about his take on spring training in Jupiter, FL.

The blog, titled "Diamond Digs with Daniel Descalso", will describe what goes on at Roger Dean Stadium as the St. Louis Cardinals prepare for the 2011 season. It will also include a behind-the-scenes look at what activities the players participate in on and off the field. Descalso will even interview some of his fellow teammates, as well as document his experiences while posting pictures to each entry.

Daniel Descalso was selected by St. Louis in the 3rd round (112nd overall) of the 2007 Draft out of the University of California-Davis. Spending most of his time with Memphis last year he maintained a .282 average and led the team in doubles (32) and RBI (86). Immediately after the Redbirds' season came to a close, Descalso was on his way to St. Louis for the first call up of his career and made his major league debut September 18th, 2010. The California native has been ranked number nine by Scout.com as one of the Cardinals' top prospects of 2011.
